'Excellence in Education': Trinity College Spain & Portugal's Virtual Learning Environment platform

Excellence in Education, as an approved service provider for Trinity College London, has a range of courses either of 15 hours over 3 weeks and 4 weekends, or 30 hours over 5 weeks and 6 weekends. Here is the schedule for the coming year 2018-19

          

Excellence in Education has three 30-hour courses that are in the process of being recognised again for each specific, relevant academic term i.e. 'homologado y acreditado' by the 'Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Ensenyament' (GTAF), and two 30-hour courses that are also in the process of being fully recognised for each of the relevant academic terms by the 'Consejo General de los Ilustres Colegios Oficiales de Doctorados y Licenciados en Filosofia y Letras y en Ciencias' (CDL). These are: 'Quest for Best: Developing Reading and Writing Skills at B1'; and 'Quest for best: Developing Speaking and Listening Skills at B1' for both institutions. 'Quest for Best: Teaching Pronunciation to Young Learners of English (Primary)' is also in the process of being recognised again by the 'Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Ensenyament'(GTAF).
Teachers who are registered with their local education authority and successfully complete one of these courses for GTAF or CDL should be eligible for 3 MEC credits that can be used for 'oposiciones, traslados' and individual training plans, once the courses have been recognised again.

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends to help teachers to understand the importance of a language rich classroom to language acquisition. The course content covers what it means to have a language rich classroom and ways that teachers can increase their own learners’ exposure to both written and oral language inside and outside the classroom. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own practices and use what they learn to enrich their own classrooms. 

    The course includes challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom resources; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues.Participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but are expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

     To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level. Participants will look at different ways that vocabulary may be presented, practised and put to use, and will be provided with tools to prepare their own vocabulary learning activities and share teaching materials.

    The course includes challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom resources; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues.Participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but are expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends to encourage participants to look at ways of preparing their students to develop the type of 21stcentury skills that are becoming more and more important. The course will look at ways to help students to be more discerning creative and critical thinkers.

    The course will look at: the skill of critical thinking and concentrate on activities to help learners develop and hone these types of skills; critical thinking and why it is an important skill for students to have; Infographics and how they are being increasingly used to convey complex information and how learners can decode and use this. Participants will design their own tasks, complete with rationales.

    The course includes challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom resources; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues.Participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but are expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends to help teachers prepare candidates for the Reading and Writing module of Trinity College London's Integrated Skills in English at Foundation and ISE I levels. The main aims are: to familiarise participants with the format of the reading and writing components; to encourage participants to reflect on the skills students need to develop to do well in this module; to provide teaching ideas and practical tips for preparing students; and to help participants to develop and share their own teaching ideas.

    The course includes challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom resources; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues.Participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but are expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.
