'Excellence in Education': Trinity College Spain & Portugal's Virtual Learning Environment platform using MOODLE

Excellence in Education, as an approved service provider for Trinity College London, has a range of courses either of 15 hours over 3 weeks and 4 weekends, or 30 hours over 5 weeks and 6 weekends. These can include 'best practice' teaching courses or courses designed to help teachers better understand the formats of examinations that are offered by Trinity College London. Here are the courses that Excellence in Education will offer during term 1 of the coming Academic Year 2019-2020.

          

  

                  

In collaboration with 'La Consejería de Educación de Aragón' as part of their summer training programme for teachers, Excellence in Education is offering two 15-hour online teacher support courses*. Participants can attend these courses whenever they have free time: we recommend an hour a day (or similar). A tutor will be available every day to comment on and give feedback for all the participants. The two courses we are offering are:

  1. 'Quest for Best: Creating a Language Rich ELF Classroom for Primary Students 6-12 years old'
  2. 'Quest for Best: Teaching and Learning Vocabulary' - more appropriate for Secondary Students

    Start: Saturday, 28th September to Sunday, 20th October, 2019 
    *The enrolment period will open 9th September* 

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course (4 weekends) which encourages the teaching and learning of English language through drama, music and performance.  It is a group award, designed for children aged anywhere between 3 and 12 years old who are starting to learn English. Preparing children for the award shows how performance-related activity supports learning, motivates children and builds their confidence and communication skills. Trinity Stars has been designed to support both learning in the classroom and teachers’ professional development. The main aims are: to reflect on and acquire new teaching strategies when teaching young learners; to become familiar with the Trinity Stars Young Performers in English Performance award and to start preparing a Trinity Stars performance; to become familiar with theories and teaching strategies to improve their learners´ skills and to plan and design activities they can use in the classroom; to share teaching experiences and to raise their awareness of how integrating language and performance goals can improve language learning.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level. Just click on the course title, follow the instructions and confirmation will be sent on Friday, 27th March. Numbers are limited to 40 participants, so please do NOT request a place if you think you may not have enough time. Please note: you may participate in only ONE course per ‘stage’!     Saturday, 28th September to Sunday, 20th October, 2019 
    *The enrolment period will open 9th September*

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course (4 weekends) to help teachers prepare candidates for Trinity College London's GESE Initial level. This course contains new resources and new tasks with one module for each grade of GESE Initial with: challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom activities; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues. There is also a section on using rhymes, songs and chants to motivate young learners. Course participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but will be expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level.     A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course (4 weekends), to help teachers  prepare candidates for Trinity College London's GESE Elementary level, grades 4, 5 and 6. Special attention is given to the 'Topic Phase ' and the Conversation Phase'. The course contains new tasks with challenging and inspiring new resources to encourage a 'reflective approach'. Course participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but are expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level. Just click on the course title, follow the instructions and confirmation will be sent on Friday, 27th March. Numbers are limited to 40 participants, so please do NOT request a place if you even think you may not have enough time. Please note: you may participate in only ONE course per ‘stage’!     Start: 6th October Finish 10th Novemeber, 2019    
    *The enrolment period will open on 16th September* 

    A free, 30-hour online course offering teacher support over 5 weeks that covers important  aspects of teaching pronunciation to young learners of English. Participants will work on: phonemic awareness and phonics; a focus on sounds, word stress and 'weak forms'; matters concerning accent and intelligibility; and rhymes, chants, songs and pronunciation games. The course has: challenging and inspiring presentations by experts; tasks that encourage a reflective approach; discussion forums for participants to air their views and learn from colleagues; and activity-based learning involving the creation of tasks. Much of the course can be done at your own pace, although there are some group activities that are best done within the same time frame. 

    This 30-hour course is officially recognised by the 'Consejo General de los Ilustres Colegios Oficiales de Doctorados y Licenciados en Filosofia y Letras y en Ciencias' (CDL). In order to participate in this free teacher support online course you MUST complete a CDL registration form (a link will be announced here shortly), and send the form to Excellence in Education. Please note that in order to request this course on this platform it is necessary to complete the registration form for CDL as well as completing the enrolment form on Excellence in Education!

Teachers who are registered with their local education authority and successfully complete this course will be eligible for three MEC credits that can be used for 'oposiciones', 'traslados' and individual training plans.
