'Excellence in Education': Trinity College Spain & Portugal's Virtual Learning Environment platform

Excellence in Education, as an approved service provider for Trinity College London, has a range of courses either of 15 hours over 3 weeks and 4 weekends, or 30 hours over 5 weeks and 6 weekends. Here is the schedule for the coming year 2018-19


Excellence in Education has three 30-hour courses that have been officially recognised i.e. 'homologado y acreditado' by the 'Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Ensenyament' (GTAF), and two 30-hour courses that have been officially recognised by the 'Consejo General de los Ilustres Colegios Oficiales de Doctorados y Licenciados en Filosofia y Letras y en Ciencias' (CDL). These are: 'Quest for Best: Developing Reading and Writing Skills at B1'; and 'Quest for best: Developing Speaking and Listening Skills at B1' for both institutions, and 'Quest for Best: Teaching Pronunciation to Young Learners of English (Primary)' has also been recognised by the 'Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Ensenyament'(GTAF).
Teachers who are registered with their local education authority and successfully complete one of these courses for GTAF or CDL will be eligible for one MEC credit that can be used for 'oposiciones, traslados' and individual training plans.

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends which encourages the teaching and learning of English language through drama, music and performance.  It is a group award, designed for children aged anywhere between 3 and 12 years old who are starting to learn English. Preparing children for the award shows how performance-related activity supports learning, motivates children and builds their confidence and communication skills. Trinity Stars has been designed to support both learning in the classroom and teachers’ professional development. The main aims are: to reflect on and acquire new teaching strategies when teaching young learners; to become familiar with the Trinity Stars Young Performers in English Performance award and to start preparing a Trinity Stars performance; to become familiar with theories and teaching strategies to improve their learners´ skills and to plan and design activities they can use in the classroom; to share teaching experiences and to raise their awareness of how integrating language and performance goals can improve language learning.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level.     A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends to help teachers prepare candidates for Trinity College London's GESE Initial level. This course has one module for each grade of GESE Initial with: challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom activities; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues. There is also a section on using rhymes, songs and chants to motivate young learners. Course participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but will be expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level.     A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends, to help teachers  prepare candidates for Trinity College London's GESE Elementary level, grades 4, 5 and 6, with special attention given to the 'Topic Phase ' and the Conversation Phase'. The course has challenging and inspiring resources with tasks to encourage a 'reflective approach'. Course participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but are expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level. Just click on the course title, follow the instructions and confirmationwill be sent on Friday, 5th October.Numbers are limited to 30 participants, so please do NOT request a place if you even think you may not have enough time. Please note: you may participate in onlyONE course per ‘stage’!     Start date: Saturday 10th November                                                                Finish: Tuesday, 4th December 2018

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends to help teachers to understand the importance of a language rich classroom to language acquisition. The course content covers what it means to have a language rich classroom and ways that teachers can increase their own learners’ exposure to both written and oral language inside and outside the classroom. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own practices and use what they learn to enrich their own classrooms. The course includes challenging and inspiring resources; tasks to encourage a reflective approach; activity-based learning where participants also create classroom resources; and discussion forums for participants to share their views and learn from colleagues. 
    Course participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, but will be expected to participate actively. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to those who successfully complete the course.

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level.     Start: Saturday 10th November                                                                         Finish: Tuesday, 4th December 2018

    A 3 week, 15 hour, free online course over 4 weekends to help teachers prepare candidates for the Reading and Writing module of Trinity College London's Integrated Skills in English at Foundation and ISE I levels. This course has challenging and inspiring resources with tasks to encourage a reflective approach. Course participants can progress through much of the course at their own pace, make contributions to discussion forums and learn from colleagues. The main aims are:

    • To familiarise participants with the format of the ISE Foundation and ISE I reading and writing components
    • To encourage participants to reflect on the skills students need to develop to do well on the reading and writing components of the ISE Foundation and ISE I exams
    • To provide teaching ideas and practical tips for preparing students for the reading and writing components of the ISE Foundation and ISE I exams
    • To help participants to develop and share their own teaching ideas for the reading and writing components of the ISE Foundation and ISE I exams

    To apply for a place on this course you must be highly motivated and ideally have at least C1 CEFR level.
